Lars Herder

Description

There will be motifs from Helsingborg, but also from Paris, when the artist Lars Herder is given a theme of his own at Crafoord Auktioner Malmö. Herder trained in the 1940s at the Slöjdföreningen school in Gothenburg, and afterwards at Eric Clemmensen's painting school in Copenhagen. As an artist, he repeatedly depicted the city of Helsingborg, and now that some 60 of his works are being presented all at once, it becomes clear how effortlessly he moved between different modes of expression. The motif from Öresundsparken in Helsingborg, in watercolor and ink, combines nimble drawing with a true eye for the power of color, while, for example, the view of Drottninggatan with the cinema in the foreground has a naïve touch. But all of them are very much Herder-esque and fine representatives of a Scanian modernism in which the city takes center stage. Welcome!Show more
