Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5 takes on Asian craftsmanship and presents the Asian Autumn Sale! Here, tradition-laden wares that arrived in Sweden aboard the ships of the East India Company, heeling across the world's oceans, mix with decorative pieces from the turn of the century before last. A cloisonné pitcher with a dragon-shaped handle is displayed beside seven small cups decorated with pairs of birds and rose sprigs in medallions (could Chinese porcelain be any more charmingly romantic than this?). A decorated earthenware pilgrim flask stands next to a bronze incense burner. And there's plenty of famille rose porcelain, and the poem "Ode to the Finding of Virtuous Officials by the Divine Ruler" in underglaze blue, yes, it's presented in elegant underglaze-blue calligraphy on a brush pot.
