Ever now, I have come to make very little of the people around me, men and women, but very gladly with each of the former, when he has a spirit, to empty a bottle of Bourgogner, and to kiss each of them, when it is beautiful. By the way, I don't have a living circle at all, but I have another one weekly; never visit societies, but even sometimes give small meals, in which they usually do me the pleasure of being happy. - What does it look like in my heart? ... So I can't talk about marriages, and other sensitive things, except if I should write a novel again. I would have liked to have written to you long ago; but I know that in Weimar my name is not used to writing with white chalk, and so - I feared to compromittire you ...".
