Einstein among others The original woodcut "Tragedy" by Emil Rudolf Weiß oscillates between Art Nouveau and Expressionism and is strongly influenced by Edvard Munch. Printed on yellowish sheets and mounted on the fold. "Two grieving women kneel in the foreground. Behind them lies the naked body of a seemingly dead woman. Over the scene, dense clouds clench. The woodcut was made in 1907 at the latest. An earlier date of origin seems probably due to stylistic comparisons" (Barbara Stark, Werkverzeichnis, Hs o.J., 3). – A little stained, small traces of usage.
