"Diurnes (Tagfalter) is the result of a collaboration between Picasso, the photographer André Villers and the writer Jacques Prévert. Picasso had cut out numerous heads and figures of people and animals from paper in 1961, further developing a technique already used in 1943. Villers assembled these cut figures on thirty different photographs and put them in realistic contexts and situations.
