Pair of deep armchairs in solid mahogany, adorned with silver between pieces and ornaments. Tapered legs, armrests fitted with silver between pieces. Upholstered seats with black horsehair fabric. Danish West Indies, first half of 1800s (2). H 85 cm, W 63 cm, seat height 45 cm. Crafted for the governor's residence in Danish West Indies. Originally made for and acquired by Alfred Paludan-Müller (1851-1924), apothecary on St. Croix. The original chairs are depicted in a drawing.
