Description
A French Louis XVI mantel clock of gilt bronze and white marble, presumaply after a model by François Rémond (c. 1747•1812), white enamel dial. Signed Gaydamour a Paris. Late 18th century. H. 43 cm. W. 36 cm. D. 14 cm. This clock has several similar characteristics of the bronze caster Edme-Philibert Guydamour. Who was born in Paris 28th September 1752. He was applied in 1766 and received as a free Master clockmaker 14th August 1784. He established a business in Rue Saint Denis where he produced high quality blocks using cases by Osmond and F.Rémond. He died in Paris 17th January 1798 and his wife continued the business until 1810 No guarantee of the function of the clock work. Wear due to age and use. Pendulum is enclosed. The gilding is corn. Visible repair on the dial.
