Made from the "Terre Chamottée" clay typical of Thiry, which gives the bowl a unique, porous and grainy texture. The piece features a bright, chalk-white base glaze with a hand-painted, folkloric motif of a stylised flower (thistle) in vibrant shades of blue and green. The contours and edges are cleverly accentuated using the deeply engraved sgraffito technique. A highly recognizable, naive design that appears both rustic and modernist. Hand-signed "Thiry" on the underside.
