A pair of 17th century, carved oak, Romayne-type portrait panels, decorated with a profile male and a female Burgher, within circular wreath frames, the cresting tops differ, one with acanthus scrolls, the other birds head terminals, 36cm x 26cm. Condition: The dark polished rich patina of the carvings, has a raw oak edge just under 1cm deep, there are two notches to the top and bottom edges, this is where they would have been secured into panelling or the carcase of furniture.
