The first letter (as a publisher) to the bookseller Göschen in Leipzig. He had a "very important question": where and at what price Göschen was referring to the "fine paper", "in which your pressure is so magnificent? A common bookseller would perhaps answer such a question that he would not allow himself to be asked about his art; but I honor you as a very extraordinary book dealer, and therefore I can dare to do something like that ..." - The second letter to a friend in Dresden, at which Eberhard inquires about the address of the "fine copper engraver" Heinrich Schmidt. He would like to commission this one with the engraving "the incoming drawing". "...I would like something as good as possible, German art honor brought to life in this sheet." The addressee says he has a "great, great pleasure in winning the best artist in this field, which exists in Dresden, for this work. The present Dresden artist world has unfortunately become strange to me, but it will not be possible for you: so I may trust your choice. It has called me [a] friend the young Stölzel; but I have not yet known any work from him. What do you mean by him? I demand not only a fine copper engraver, but also a capable draughtsman, who is able to improve many things in the main figure of the accompanying sheet, which is still necessary for the refinement of the forms, who understands how to carry out much of the well-indicated meeting in the whole, and has perfect knowledge of the nact ..." - The first letter is slightly sticky.
