Already with great interest I have passed through individual parts of your work and can only congratulate you on its happy completion. One can see that it is the fruit of many years of zealous and conscientious work, the representation is clear and flush. What I can do in my small place for its distribution, I will gladly do. Soon after my return, I spoke to Prof. Dernburg about your wish expressed to me; he did not seem unsatisfied, but did not make a certain commitment. Right after receiving your shipment, I sent him the copy of your letter that was intended for him, and yesterday I spoke to him again about the Recension. He noticed I'd like to give you yours. Sending thanks very much to him, it is not possible for him now with the best will to write the desired Recension, because he is busy with the printing of his pledge right and because of this book he has left various other works lying ... As far as I have heard, the critical review published in Munich will be transformed into "A Magazine", as we are told, a merger will take place from the coming Easter onwards ... I am going to enclose two of my works here, of which I have already spoken to you in Kissingen and which you might like to have a modest place in your library ...".
