Christ’s Hospital Court Decree dated 31 March 1674, "by vertue of a commission under the Great Seale of England", signed at foot by Thomas Clarges, Robert Peyton, Thomas Exton and Ambrose Phillipps, as witnesses, concerning the legacy of Robert Faning, tailor, "being possest of a considerable personal estate in money & goods and chattels", in favour of "the poore children in Christs Hospital London", reclaiming properties illegally occupied by John Burges and ordering any sales necessary to pay Faning's debts, vellum, two initial words heightened in gold, 56 x 66 cm, some staining, without seals, Ex Clayton MSS. ***Sir Thomas Clarges (1618 - 1695), was a politician and prominent figure during the Restoration. He is referenced several times in the diary of Samuel Pepys.
