Johannes Wilhjel (1868]1938) was a Danish painter trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Artists Studies School under P.S. Krøyer, and with Kristian Zahrtmann. He is particularly familiar for his light-filled Italian motifs, landscapes from the Jutland heat, and portraits executed in a naturalistic style with rich and nuanced colouration. Minor paint loss in places, particularly along the ages.
