Condition: In fully restored condition, the work has been cleaned restored and varnished, probably in the mid-20th Century, there is evidence of restoration in various areas of the picture including the head of the monkey seated on the stool. Various areas of retouching in the background colour. There is some bitumen in areas of the paintwork, particularly prevalent in the upper right hand corner, the work does still bear a great deal of dirt & discoloured varnish throughout.
