modelled after the Scott Monument and statue in Edinburgh, designed by George Meikle Kemp and John Steell respectively (inaugurated 1846), the 4 1/4" pierced and silvered chapter ring set with Roman numerals above cast gilt metal figures of Sir Walter Scott and his dog Maida, the chain-driven single fusee movement with passing strike to a bell, the marble base with presentation plaque dated 1855, beneath a glass dome, adjustable pendulum and winder present, height of clock 44cm, overall height incl. dome 57cm, width 32cm, depth 21cm. Condition: Currently in working condition at time of cataloguing but functionality not guaranteed. Striking hammer bent. Minor tarnishing and surface wear to metal, minor chips to rim of dome.
