The abrashed pale terracotta field centred by an indigo and ivory panel containing zoomorphic devices, framed by powder blue diamond lattice spandrels and ivory borders of angular vines, flanked by floral guard stripes, 647 x 446cm *Provenance: the carpet was originally at Copped Hall, Essex, having been purchased by Ernest Wythes in 1894/95. Condition: Fading, small areas of moth damage to field and at edges, several large repairs towards one end, each approx. a metre long, small repairs, fringes sewn back, medallion is uneven, most likely caused by the large repairs.
