Shaw is one of the defining American Pulp magazines of "Hardboiled" crime literature. Here appeared numerous early works and first publications by authors such as Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Erle Stanley Gardner, Paul Cain and Frederick Nebel. Four issues edited by Joseph T. Shaw, the last published by Fanny Ellsworth. Includes the Chandler stories "Nevada Gas" and "Try the Girl" as well as Paul Cain's "Dutch Treat". Furthermore, contributions by Theodore Tinsley, J. M. Bell, Dwight V. Babcock, E. G. Morris, James Duncan, Lester Dent, George Harmon Coxe, W. T. Ballard, Frederick Nebel, John Lawrence, William Donald Bray, Roger Torrey and others – browned due to paper. The paper is very sensitive and slightly brittle in places.
