"Although the yearbook 'Arkadia' has not yet been out of print with the first print of the 'judgment', Kafka is now vigorously fighting for the single print of 'judicial' in the 'youngest day'. Having characterized the novella in its outer peculiarity and - with its modesty and restraint a remarkable process - even determined its objective value - the 'judgment' was 'though very small, but it is also more poem than narrative, it needs free space around itself and it is not unworthy to get it', it could only have an effect with 'very free Space around him' - he also confesses his completely private attitude to him that it is 'the work he loves' ..." (Dietz, p. 79). With the advertisement sheet not mentioned by Dietz "From the same author appeared further ...". The story "The Judgment" was bound before the usual black cardboard brochure with mounted title plate (the series "The Youngest Day" conforms) in a first binding rate in chamois (once white, usually yellowish browned) cardboard envelope. Dietz writes in Philobiblion VII, 1963, 98: "Only the first binding rates of the ribbons printed in September still have individual cover or envelope". The envelope was designed by Ottomar Starke, the KWV signature Walter Tiemann. Printed by E. Haberland in Leipzig-R. September 1916" (for the text block; the dust jacket printed Poeschel & Trepte, Leipzig) and with the printed year "1917" on the dust cover as well as the publishing ads on the back cover and the flaps. – Purpose with exlibris, title as usual with vertical tanning track through the flap, overall in the block very clean and fresh, with inside publishing brochure. – It's the same.
