The lithographs were printed by Mourlot. In 1905 Derain spent the summer together with Matisse in Collioure and in the same year exhibited his fauvist paintings at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. After spending several months with Picasso in Avignon in 1908, Derain fell under the influence of Cubism. In 1910 he took part in the exhibition of the "Neue Künstlervereinigung" in Munich, a year later he also participated in the "Blue Rider" exhibition. In 1912 the "période gothique" begins in Derain's artistic work. In the early 1940s, Derain mainly worked in Donnemarie and returned to Chambourcy after the liberation of the German occupation in 1944. In 1950 illustrations were made for the works of Saint-Exupéry and for the "Contes et Nouvelles" of La Fontaine. – Clean specimen.
