The beautiful lithographs, which once again reveal the great mastery of the sculptor Maillol in their plasticity, were printed by Ferdinand Mourlot on the hand press. The stones were destroyed after completion. The female act is the main theme of Maillol's sculptural work, which is characterized by classical calmness and a clear plasticity that is self-contained. Maillol's compact, luxuriant, sensual female figures, reminiscent of Gauguin's female figures as well as the late acts of Renoir, were of immense influence on European, especially German sculpture. – A little tanned.
