He also wrote short stories and novels under the pseudonym Christoph Walter Drey. His books often played in the Hanseatic milieu, against a seaman's background or in exotic worlds. Due to his chatting-pleasing style, the works were successful and were often printed in several editions. Some books also experienced new editions in the postwar period. Persich remained in Germany during the Nazi dictatorship and described himself as "unpolitical" people. However, at the time of World War II he also published books with a propagandist tendency ("Winston Churchill ganz ‚privat‘ - adventurer, lord, criminal", "Zaharoff der Demon Europas"). In the early 1950s, Persich and others founded the Paul Abraham Committee in Hamburg to promote the return of the severely ill composer Paul Abraham from American exile (cf. DLL, Sp. 1053). St.Pauli magazine brought short stories, reports, event and film reviews, poems and much more.In addition to Persich, authors such as A. R. Meyer, H. Harbeck, O. Kalenter and William Quindt.
