Bruno Goldschmitt received his artistic training at the Kunstgewerbeschule Nürnberg and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München. In 1900 he founded an artist colony on Lake Constance with Hermann Hesse, Ludwig Finckh, Robert Weise and others. Goldschmitt came to Berlingen with the friendly architect Hans Hindermann in 1905.
