Artist: Alfred Finsterer (1908 - 1996) Title: Apple harvest Technique: Woodcut on thin paper Signature: & r. sigiert Dimensions in cm approx.: 39.5 x 31.5 Note: Stick spots & kink at the edge of the paper Biography: Born 1908 in Nuremberg. 1927-1930 Studied at the Nuremberg School of Arts and Crafts (named from 1928 to the State School of Applied Arts) with Rudolf Schiestl. In 1932 he worked as an independent industrial graphic artist. 1934 Work as book graphic artist and wood cutter. 1935 and 1938 Dürer Prize winner. 1937 Appointment to the Staatliche Akademie in Leipzig. 1945-1947 working in Nuremberg with Sebaldus-Verlag, responsible for the book equipment and magazine editorial. 1947-1973 artistic consultant for several publishing houses (publisher Phil. Reclam jun. Stuttgart, Schriftgießerei Klingspor Offenbach/M., Druck- und Verlagshaus Belser Stuttgart), also working as a freelance graphic designer. how pictured without any other items or positions shown Content, condition and completeness are unchecked Function is untested
