Description
A wonderful rich colour and patination. The shaped and carved top rail initialled and dated H.B. 1718. With carved wide ears to the back with interspersed flower heads and split turnings. The single panel back above a two board seat, the square shaped arms with end cut outs for the original shelf, the original turned pegs slot into the arm ends, securing the reading / sewing shelf in place.
Standing on turned front legs united by stretchers.
Provenance- Astley Hall, Worcestershire

53.3cm deep.
Condition: Some old splits and repairs visible, later timbers to the bottom of the back legs, chips to edges of the shelf, old nail heads to the seat edges.
