Description
Approx. Ø47mm, approx. 56g, 18K gold, magnificently engraved, very early Savonnette case, jump cover with finely cisled representation of a general in his uniform, probably the Polish national hero General Tadeusz Kościuszko, back very detailed representation of the general on horseback in front of military scene in the background, dust cover signed and numbered, magnificent engraved with Rocaille, No.10296, housing and work number equal, exquisite early Patek Philippe Ankerwerk with temperature compensation and shock protection, repetition of hours and quarter hours, very nice enamel dial and finest Breguet gold pointer, functional and in very nice condition of preservation. The watch is located in a box of the company Türler in Zurich, which was probably the seller. In the box is the probably original gold key in cross shape. The watch is a museum collector's watch and is one of the earliest known Patek Philippe Goldsavonneten with repetition, probably made for a well-cooked Polish customer. At Antiquorum auctions in Geneva, another Patek Philippe Savonnette was auctioned in 2004 with a very similar case and log extract. According to the excerpt, the case showed the scene on one side: "The Death of Poniatowski" and on the other side also Tadeusz Kościuszko on horseback. The watch scored a record price for an early Patek pocket watch with quarter-hour repetition. (Source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/Mnb).
