Hotten (J. C.) A scrapbook containing drawings, watercolours, autographs and prints, 62pp., Piccadilly, compiled 1846 - 1871, including: an ink drawing of Rome’s Piazza di Spagna, with the Church of Santissima Trinità dei Monti, before the construction of the steps (1725); clipped signatures of actor David Garrick, Edward Bulwer-Lytton, Charles Lever, a letter from Washington Irving, 1 p., headed ‘Brooklyn, U. S.’, stating “I accept your terms for the mss. I will D.V. be in London in the course of May for the revision of the proof sheets”, signed, as well as a copy of J. M. W. Turner’s watercolour of Nantes cathedral, engraved view of Hu Kew Hyen, forged signatures of French statesman Adolphe Thiers, Jules Simon, Jules Favre, Giuseppe Gambetta, in a note addressed to Victor Hugo, contemporary sheep, worn, lacking spine, 4to. ***John Camden Hotten (1832 - 1873) was a publisher best known for several controversial erotic and pornographic titles.
