K. Balsam) to prevent counterfeits’, advertised in Rixdollars, ‘This marwelous balsam is to be had by te maker Abraham Kuntze, at Riga, in Smith-Street naer the Townes Steables’, 1p., crown devices at head, 25 x 20 cm, some spotting, n.p., c. 1760s. ***Riga Black Balsam gained popularity after it supposedly cured Russian Empress Catherine the Great.
