This publication was prepared by the U.S. Ministry of Information in Co-Operation with the U.S. Office of War Information (OWI), as indicated on the title sheet. The OWI was a United States government agency created during World War II. The OWI operated from June 1942 until September 1945 -- through radio broadcasts, newspapers, posters, photographs, films and other forms of media, the OWl aimed to increase understanding of wartime life, though it was subject to fears and suspicions of large-scale American propaganda both at home and abroad.
