"Dear present, now that he - not quite freely and not exceedingly likes - becomes sixty years old, it is quite conceivable that Berthold Diertel, this invariably self-examiner, remembered the poem that he had written a long time ago and called 'saying' [here follows quarter of three-step poem] ... And so it is certainly not inappropriate for an old man who, even if only in advanced years, has become a classmate of the student quarter, to submit himself to the whispering duty of the announcement: Quarter Berthold, a lifetime you have been a questioner, and that is more than a one-speaker. The questions you had to address to the world you whispered to her, and, look, they were her own, most important questions... For poetry, or true art at all, is like science an incessant 'why'; one as well as the other serves knowledge, and where the chain of questions departs, science becomes mere practice, but art becomes unart ...".
