The author happily explains this news, praises Knudsen in the highest tones and places the communication to the publisher Blanvalet in Knudsen's hands with confidence. The letter is particularly remarkable in that since the 1960s Knudsen has been an enemy of Nazi rule as a "willing follower" and is still today. The great trust Bernauer places in Knudsen's personality shows that he was either unaware of Knudson's attitude in the Nazi era, or that he had only had good experiences with Knudzen in the 1920s. "... That you are really willing to write the introduction to my memories makes me proud and happy. Their conviction that by this the level of the book which [means: that of] a little too risherish title is depressed, is also mine. It goes without saying that your name alone is sufficient to underline the seriousness of my work ... from the moment you made a positive attitude towards my work, it was always my desire to be introduced by you to the readers and has nothing to do with the change of title ... In response to your question whether you can do anything for me on this matter, I ask you to contact Mr Blanvalet immediately after Easter and exercise your weighty influence on him. I cannot wish for a better advocate ..." - The letter is written in Bernauer's last year of life.
