Ludwig Joseph von Bierkowski (1801-1860) became professor of surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Krakow in 1831 and published numerous writings in Polish. This illustrated book was part of the second work, published shortly after his studies in Germany, as a young physician, which he published before his doctorate in 1829.
