Rare and completely preserved work from the surroundings of the Augsburg copper engraver and publisher Johann Stridbeck d. J. (1665-1714), which presents the Italian landscapes and adjacent territories in a sequence decoratively and at the same time informatively designed panels. The composition combines the representative claim of baroque book illustration with cartographic clarity and is aimed at educated travellers as well as those interested in historical and political issues. The plates show a wide range of cartographic and topographical representations (coasts, provinces, traffic and distance indications) and impress with clear, contrasting imprints. – Due to the age of paper, lightly browned, sometimes flaky, few fold reinforcements, but a good specimen overall.
