Artist: Helmut Wellschmidt (1930 - 2015) Title: Portrait Technique: Linol cutting Signature: unsigned/ List of works No. 4 Dimensions in cm approx.: 51 x 41 / 16,5 x 12 Biography: (1930 Teschen - 2015 Nürnberg) For the artist, birth and death are the focal points of life. They move the imagery of the artist Wellschmidt. He is fascinated by life as a never-ending interplay between the "actually real" of birth and the "metaphysically unreal" of death. The "man in himself" is the focus of his work. Wellschmidt creates images of life, in which ubiquitous death – personified in a scythe – reminds us that man is the only living being with knowledge of the past and its inevitable death. There is a tension between the past and the future. The individual fate of the individual human being and that must die are his main themes. how pictured without any other items or positions shown Content, condition and completeness are unchecked Function is untested
