Description

"Gladiator' (2000). Emperor Commodus' (Joaquin Phoenix) dagger of brass and steel, which in the film kills both General Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowei) and emperor Commodus (Jaoquin PHOENix) himself. This dagger is the original used by the production team to produce resin copies. Resin copies are often used in battle scenes to reduce the risk of damage. Made by dragonfly in London. DreamWorks SKG. Dimensions (mounts) H. 6 cm. L. 56 cm. B. 44 cm. Provenance: This is the original dagger made for the actor Jaoquin Phoenix for use in the film 'Gladiator'. Phoenix plays here the depraved Roman Emperor Commodus. The film's director, Ridley Scott, gave after the film the dagger to one of the movie's lightmen, who sold it to Prop Store in London, the world's largest and most renowned distributor of props from famous films. A Danish collector bought in 2002 the dagger of Prop Store and has owned it until today.
