(64 3/4 x 37 5/8 in.)Provenance:Private Collection, U.K.Notes:Tamburini trained in Paris under the academic painter Léon Bonnat and subsequently studied in Rome and Naples. He achieved recognition for his work as early as 1888 with a silver medal at the Universal Exposition in Barcelona. He later became a member of the Board of Museums of Barcelona and co-founder of the Artistic and Literary Society of Catalonia. He began his career in history painting and anecdotal realism, before moving towards a symbolist language influenced by Pre-Raphaelites. Consequently, much of his works took on a highly literary quality. Tamburini’s work is preserved in institutions such as the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
