The private seller offers for sale this 1935 Berliet Dauphine, powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. Berliet, the Lyon-based French manufacturer, built some of the most distinctive and well-engineered cars of the interwar years, and the Dauphine belongs to the generation of mid-1930s sedans that moved away from the upright look of the 1920s towards smoother, more flowing lines. This example is finished in red with black fenders, red wheel centres and a chrome-trimmed grille carrying the Berliet name, a combination that gives the car a great deal of period presence.
The seller reports that the car has been registered as an oldtimer in Belgium since the 1980s and has been maintained. A new exhaust and new rear tyres have been fitted, the front suspension has been renewed, and the fenders were repainted in 2025. The paintwork elsewhere dates from around 20 years ago and shows slight wear, as would be expected. Inside, the sedan has a wide bench seat at the front and a generous rear bench, upholstered in a soft, velvet-like fabric, with a simple painted dashboard and a central instrument cluster. The seller notes that the car has taken part in several rallies in France and Belgium. The cable brakes need to be adjusted, according to the seller. The car is sold with a set of its original wheels, although only four hubcaps are included.
Pre-war French cars of this quality are seldom offered, and a Dauphine with a documented period of rally use and a long-standing oldtimer registration will appeal to collectors of interwar French motoring.
