The professional seller offers for sale this 2017 Lotus Exige LF1, powered by a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This car is number 80 of the 81 Exige LF1 examples built, each one dedicated to one of the 81 Formula 1 Grand Prix victories of the Lotus marque. Number 80 commemorates the win of Kimi Räikkönen at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in 2012. It wears the special black and gold livery with red accents and gold alloy wheels, a tribute to the legendary black and gold Lotus Formula 1 cars. The odometer reads 37,000 km.
Please note that this Exige LF1 is not in original factory specification. The car has been extensively modified by Komotec, an official Lotus dealer and Lotus specialist, with upgrades to the engine, drivetrain, cooling, brakes, suspension and chassis. The engine output and a number of engine components have been changed from standard. While all modifications are performance upgrades, the car no longer reflects the original factory configuration. It is therefore aimed at a buyer looking for maximum performance from this model, rather than at a collector seeking an unmodified example. Invoices for the work will be handed over to the new owner at the time of purchase.
The engine has received the Komotec Ex 460 upgrade, which included a complete engine rebuild with new bearings and gaskets, forged Wiseco pistons and connecting rods, and modifications to the supercharger. It is complemented by a Komotec intercooler, Komotec exhaust manifolds and exhaust system, a Moroso baffled oil sump and a 60-litre endurance fuel tank. Cooling has been uprated with a triple-pass motorsport radiator, a Pro Alloy thick-core aluminium radiator and a gearbox cooler kit with an electric pump. The drivetrain features a Quaife limited-slip differential and modified gearshift linkage.
The chassis has been upgraded with Öhlins TTX two-way adjustable suspension, Cup anti-roll bars and modified rear uprights. Braking is handled by a Komotec Ko-bra brake kit front and rear, with two-piece PFC discs with aluminium bells, Endless brake pads and Endless brake fluid. Inside, the car is equipped with competition seats in black and gold, a harness bar with a Schroth Lotus II four-point rotary harness in black alongside conventional inertia-reel seat belts, as well as air conditioning and electric windows. A front towing eye has also been fitted.
The Exige LF1 was presented in 2014, based on the Exige S, as a celebration of the rich racing history of Lotus. Beyond its striking livery, it left the factory with the Race Pack with Dynamic Performance Management, two-piece high-performance brake discs and Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres, plus an individually numbered carbon fibre build plate. With Lotus no longer competing in Formula 1, the link to a specific Grand Prix victory makes each LF1 a unique piece of motorsport memorabilia.
In standard form, the mid-mounted supercharged 3.5-litre V6 delivers around 345 hp in a car weighing well under 1,200 kg. In this example, the Komotec engine upgrade raises the output beyond the factory figure, taking the already formidable performance of the Exige a significant step further. Combined with the motorsport-grade suspension, brakes and cooling, the result is a focused, track-oriented machine that retains the razor-sharp steering and feedback for which Lotus is famous.
This Exige LF1 combines a rare limited-production Lotus with a direct link to Formula 1 history and an extensive specification of professional performance upgrades. It will appeal to the enthusiast who wants to enjoy this exclusive model at its full potential, on the road and on track days.
