The private seller offers for sale this 1972 Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.3 S, powered by a 1.3-litre narrow-angle V4 engine, paired with a manual transmission. The car has been in the hands of a single owner, who kept it garaged throughout and used it only for short Sunday drives, with routine maintenance carried out on a regular basis over the years. A full service has just been completed, during which the carburation was set up and new tyres and a new battery were fitted. In addition, the car is equipped with a new clutch assembly and a new flywheel, which have covered fewer than 2,000 km since installation, and it currently holds a valid roadworthiness inspection.
Finished in dark blue with a cream leather interior and bright chrome detailing, this Fulvia shows the clean, period-correct character that makes the second-series coupé so appealing today. The cabin offers the light and airy feel the Fulvia Coupé is known for, thanks to its slim pillars and generous glass area, while the cream upholstery forms an attractive contrast with the dark exterior. The interior is presented in good condition, and the bodywork shows its age in places, as reflected in the seller’s condition assessment below. With the recent service and the new clutch and flywheel already taken care of, the new owner can focus on enjoying the car.
Lancia introduced the Fulvia in 1963 as a saloon, followed in 1965 by the Coupé, styled in-house by Piero Castagnero. Its engineering was typical of Lancia at the time and well ahead of many rivals: a compact narrow-angle V4 engine mounted at the front, driving the front wheels, combined with disc brakes on all four wheels. The model went on to achieve considerable success in international rallying, with the Fulvia Coupé HF winning the Monte Carlo Rally and securing the International Championship for Manufacturers in 1972, the very year this car was built. The second series, introduced in 1970, brought a five-speed gearbox, a revised interior and a number of styling refinements, with the 1.3 S becoming the core version of the coupé range. Well over 100,000 Fulvia Coupés were built in total, making it one of the most successful Lancias of its era.
The Fulvia Coupé’s crisp, understated lines still look elegant more than fifty years on, and its compact dimensions make it an easy classic to use and enjoy. On the road, the free-revving V4, light and precise steering and the sure-footed balance of front-wheel drive give the car an engaging and rewarding driving character. For enthusiasts looking for a single-owner, regularly maintained Fulvia with key mechanical work recently carried out, this 1972 Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.3 S presents an attractive opportunity.
