Description

Chevrolet 3100 | 1949 Highlights: – 3.5-litre inline-six engine, petrol, 6 cylinders, manual transmission – Body-off restoration carried out in the Netherlands between 2019 and 2020 – Full history known since import into the Netherlands in 2019 – Little driven since the restoration was completed – Stored indoors The seller offers for sale this 1949 Chevrolet 3100, powered by a 3.5-litre inline-six engine, paired with a manual transmission. Originally supplied new in the United States, this Advance Design pick-up was imported into the Netherlands in 2019, where it subsequently underwent a body-off restoration completed over the 2019-2020 period. Since that restoration was finished, the truck has covered very few miles and has been kept stored indoors, and its full history is known and documented from the moment of Dutch import onward. Finished in a striking red and black combination with a wood-slat cargo bed and chrome trim, the truck presents in good to good condition both technically and cosmetically, reflecting the quality of the restoration work carried out and the limited use since. The cabin retains its period-style bench seat, dashboard-mounted gauge cluster and column-mounted controls, giving an authentic impression of driving a genuine late-1940s American pick-up. The Chevrolet 3100 forms part of GM’s Advance Design series, introduced in 1947 as a comprehensively modernised replacement for Chevrolet’s pre-war trucks, with a wider cab, integrated headlights and a more rounded, streamlined body style that set the tone for American pick-up design into the 1950s. The 3100 designation refers to the half-ton, short-wheelbase variant, the most popular configuration of the range and the one most associated with the model today. Power came from Chevrolet’s dependable “Thriftmaster” inline-six, an engine family renowned for its durability and easy-going nature, qualities that continue to make the Advance Design trucks a favourite among classic pick-up enthusiasts. Driving one of these trucks is a straightforward, unhurried experience, with light, low-revving power delivery and a high, commanding seating position typical of the era. Their simple, rugged mechanicals and charming, rounded styling have made Advance Design Chevrolets enduringly popular at classic vehicle gatherings, and a body-off restored example such as this one offers the chance to enjoy that character with the reassurance of recent, thorough restoration work behind it. Condition of the bodywork & paint 4 — Very Good. Clean with minimal wear; might need minor replacements for small missing or broken parts. Condition of the interior 4 — Very Good. Displays only minimal wear and can hit the road any time. Technical condition 4 — Very Good. Mechanically solid, with potential for minor servicing. Overall condition 4 — Very Good. Displays only minimal wear and can hit the road any time. This item is sold on an as-is basis. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from your own opinion.
