Description

Highlights: – 1975 cc four-cylinder engine, petrol, manual transmission – Touring-bodied 2000 Spider, a rare open Alfa Romeo of the late 1950s and early 1960s – Imported from California and renovated in 2009 by Bata Classics – Matching numbers, according to the seller – Metallic blue exterior with cream leather interior The private seller offers for sale this 1960 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Touring, powered by a 1975 cc four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. The 2000 Spider was introduced at the end of the 1950s as the open sports car of Alfa Romeo’s larger 2000 range. Its elegant bodywork was designed and built by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan using the Superleggera method, and it combines gently rounded wings, a prominent Alfa Romeo shield grille and a long, low profile with the character of an Italian grand tourer. The twin-cam inline-four engine, with its light-alloy head, was developed in the Alfa Romeo tradition of spirited yet refined engines, and the car was built in modest numbers, which makes it a rarity today. This example was imported from California and, according to the seller, renovated in 2009 by Bata Classics, a Hungarian workshop with some 30 years of experience with classic cars. Since then the seller reports it has been carefully kept and only gently driven. The seller states that the car retains its matching numbers and authentic parts. The metallic blue paint is paired with a cream interior, chrome wheel centres and a cream soft top, giving the car a distinctly period look. With its open cockpit, large steering wheel, classic instrument cluster and attractive proportions, this 2000 Spider Touring offers the sort of motoring that Italian grand touring cars of the era are loved for. It is a compelling opportunity for collectors of early Alfa Romeo sports cars. Condition of the bodywork & paint 4 — Very Good. Clean with minimal wear; might need minor replacements for small missing or broken parts. Condition of the interior 4 — Very Good. Displays only minimal wear and can hit the road any time. Technical condition 4 — Very Good. Mechanically solid, with potential for minor servicing. Overall condition 4 — Very Good. Displays only minimal wear and can hit the road any time. This item is sold on an as-is basis. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from your own opinion. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. We strongly advise potential buyers to view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be hard to see even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork. Photographs may not reflect the exact true colour or exact full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to assure themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy.
