Description
Datograph Flyback "Base 1000 Meters" of platinum, ref. 40335F. Mechanical work with manual winding and chronograph and date display, caliber L951.1. Black alligator strap with A. Lange & Söhne folding lock of platinum. Ø 39 mm. approx. 2000. A. Lange & Söhne box, 2014 service papers and Asprey & Garrard 2002 certificate are included. The introduction of Datograph in 1999 marked a milestone in A. Lange & Söhne's modern history. At a time when even the most prestigious Swiss watchmakers often used chronograph works developed by external suppliers, the manual in Glashütte presented its own unique caliber L951.1, which set new standards for the construction of mechanical chronography works. The manually drawn work consists of 405 individual components and is equipped with column wheel chronograph with flyback function. The remarkable three-dimensional architecture of the work, which can be seen through the sapphire glass of the back box, is supplemented by exquisite hand finishes and the characteristic hand-engraved balance bridge that characterizes A. Lange & Söhne. The present specimen in platinum is made about 2000 and bears the early box number 127960, which places the clock among the first years of production of Datograph. The original case of 39 mm and the distinctive black disc with contrasting silver-coloured subdials represent the original design of the model, which is famous for its harmonic proportions and the characteristic tachymeter scale called the "Base 1000 Meter" . The watch was originally sold through the recognised British jewelry Asprey & Garrard on 17 January 2002 and is accompanied by its original certificate and documentation of a service inspection carried out by A. Lange & Söhne in 2014. The first generation of Datograph continues to be one of the most important achievements in modern German clockmaking, where technical inventiveness is combined with outstanding craftsmanship quality and a timeless design. The subject is covered by CITES Appendix II and requires CITES certificate in order to be exported from Denmark to a country outside the EU. Buyers with permanent residence outside the EU are obliged to obtain this authorisation.
