Anne Marie Bruun from an early age developed a great interest in art, but it was said that she first applied for employment at the Royal Porcelain Factory. Afterwards she received drawing lessons at Frederik Helsted and Vilhelm Kyhn and stayed at Kyhn's recommendation student at Jørgen Roed. She made her debut at Charlottenborg in 1879 and then went to Paris where she was taught at Académie Julian. That same year she married the doctor Gilbert Lauri Jespersen. The couple divorced in 1900 and then Gilbert-Jespersen had to support himself and his seven children in total. She lived among other things as an illustrator and opened a drawing school in 1902 with the artist colleague Caroline van Deurs. • Showroom: DK, Hørsholm
