Description

Highlights: – 3.8-litre inline-six engine, petrol, 4-speed manual transmission – Early Series 1 fixed head coupé with wire wheels and wood-rimmed steering wheel – Original blue leather upholstery with the patina of age – Repainted in the past, with chrome in good condition according to the seller – Spanish registration, supplied with its vehicle documentation The professional seller offers for sale this 1963 Jaguar E-Type Coupé, powered by a 3.8-litre inline-six engine, paired with a manual gearbox. Few cars have shaped the image of the 1960s sports car as strongly as the E-Type. Introduced by Jaguar at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, it combined a long, flowing bonnet, a low and elegant silhouette, independent rear suspension and disc brakes all round with the proven XK engine, and it was famously praised as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The early 3.8-litre cars with their covered headlamps, slim bumpers and uncluttered cabin are among the most sought after versions today. This example is finished in a soft blue-grey metallic, set off by chrome wire wheels with knock-off spinners, and the seller reports that the paint still has a deep shine despite having been applied some years ago. The chrome is described as in good condition. The cabin retains its original blue leather upholstery, which shows the patina that comes with age and use, while the carpets and door panels are reported to be in good order. The dashboard carries the typical engine-turned aluminium fascia with its row of toggle switches and the large Smiths speedometer and rev counter, with a wood-rimmed steering wheel in front of the driver. The seller describes the engine and gearbox as reliable and says the car runs well even after periods of standing, with a smooth gearchange through all gears. The seller also notes that the brake servo needs repair, and that there is some localised surface corrosion on the underside and in a few other areas which the seller considers easy to address. A good number of underside photos are included so that bidders can form their own view. The car is accompanied by its registration documents, and the seller offers 20 days of storage to the winning bidder. Condition of the bodywork & paint 3 — Good.
