Description

The 'fruits' decoration (commonly referred to as the 'baroque fruit') remains one of the most famous and representative decorations of the Antonibon manufacture, are apple trophies, pears, oranges and various fruits, sex supported by rich rocaille volutes and sometimes with the insertion of elements extraneous to the vegetable world. The decorative richness of this ornate has been approached to a legacy of Caravaggio's painting: it is certain that the painting used by the nineteenth-century decorators strikes for the great plasticity obtained. The decoration has been dealt with in depth by Raffaella Ausenda on the occasion of the exhibition of 1990, an analysis that still remains today, the catalogue of that exhibition is therefore also referred to the previous bibliography (R. Ausenda in AA. VV, La Ceramica degli Antonibon, Catalogo della mostra, Milan, 1990, p. 81 tab 89 passim).
