The private seller offers for sale this 1960 Ford Taunus 17M P2, powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. The Taunus 17M of the P2 generation, nicknamed the “Barock” in Germany for its flamboyant styling, was Ford Germany’s answer to the growing demand for stylish family cars in the late 1950s. With its wraparound design cues, tail fins, chrome trim and two-tone paint, it carried a strong dose of American styling in a compact European package, and it remains one of the most charming German classics of the period.
This example is a two-door model finished in light blue with a white roof, matched with whitewall tyres and bright chrome bumpers. According to the seller the car was restored about eight years ago. The bodywork was stripped of its paint and rust and treated with a KTL coating before being repainted, the engine and the brake system were overhauled, and the interior was redone. The electrical system also received a new wiring harness and was converted from 6 volts to 12 volts.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in cream upholstery with dark piping on a full-width bench seat at the front and rear, with a large pale steering wheel and a dashboard painted in body colour. The engine bay, finished in white with a blue engine block, is shown in several photos.
The seller notes that a few cosmetic details still need finishing, for instance the window rubbers (new ones are included), the handle of the right-hand window and the panel under the windscreen wipers. For enthusiasts of post-war German design, this Taunus 17M offers a distinctive and approachable classic with plenty of period charm.
