Description

Highlights: – 5.3-litre straight-eight engine, petrol, automatic transmission – Dynaflow automatic transmission, a landmark Buick innovation – Only three owners, according to the seller – Mechanical refurbishment of the engine, gearbox, rear axle, shock absorbers, brakes and tyres – Metallic burgundy paintwork with whitewall tyres and a chrome Buick grille The private seller offers for sale this 1949 Buick Roadmaster, powered by a 5.3-litre straight-eight petrol engine, paired with an automatic transmission. The Roadmaster was the flagship of Buick’s line in the years after the Second World War, a big and comfortable American sedan that stood just below Cadillac in General Motors’ hierarchy. The 1949 model year was a milestone: it introduced the famous VentiPorts on the front fenders, and the redesigned body brought the smooth, rounded lines and the toothy chrome grille that people still associate with Buick of that period. This example is a four-door sedan finished in a metallic burgundy, set off by chrome trim, whitewall tyres and the four VentiPorts on each front wing. According to the seller the car has had only three owners. The seller states that the car has been mechanically refurbished, including the engine, the gearbox, the rear axle, the shock absorbers, the brakes and the tyres, and the photos include a shot of the engine block in blue paint during the work. The seller also reports that the bodyshell shows no significant rust. Inside, the cabin is wide and airy, with a full-width bench seat in grey cloth, pale green door panels, a large black steering wheel and a classic dashboard with a deep-set instrument cluster. The boot holds the spare wheel and a collection of period Buick literature and manuals, while a folder of paperwork is also pictured. With its generous proportions, straight-eight engine and Dynaflow automatic drive, the Roadmaster offers a comfortable way to experience American motoring of the late 1940s, whether for touring or for display at classic car events. Condition of the bodywork & paint 4 — Very Good. Clean with minimal wear; might need minor replacements for small missing or broken parts. Condition of the interior 3 — Good. Bodywork or mechanical repairs needed; drives. Technical condition 4 — Very Good. Mechanically solid, with potential for minor servicing. Overall condition 4 — Very Good. Displays only minimal wear and can hit the road any time. This item is sold on an as-is basis. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from your own opinion. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. We strongly advise potential buyers to view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be hard to see even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork. Photographs may not reflect the exact true colour or exact full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to assure themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy.
