Bust left, rev. long cross, crude 'hands' in 1st and 4th angles, uncertain symbol in 2nd angle, two pellets in 3rd, blundered legends. 0.92 g. cf. SCBI 8 (BM) 91 & SCBI 32 (Belfast) 144-145 - same dies prior to alteration; Kunker 228, 2391 - same dies; S.6132. Lightly toned with some iridescence. Much as struck. An unusual case of die overmarking. Rare. NGC MS 65 TOP POP (6671026-011) Evidently the dies used to strike this coin were used for an earlier emission, prior to the addition of the symbol two and pellets on the reverse. What these alterations signified remains uncertain.
