The inscription ‘S PRINS’ on the arm raises questions: no die-cutter or designer by the name of Prins can be identified. An interesting suggestion for an interpretation was put forward in 1979 by Peter Scharenberg (Zur Münzprägung des Grafen und späteren Fürsten Johann Josef Khevenhüller-Metsch, Mitteilungen der Österreichischen Numismatischen Gesellschaft XXI, 1979, p 18-22): He interprets the letters as part of the motto JE L'AY EMPRINS on the regalia of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
