Angel opening gate of the establishment for three paupers PAX HVIC DOMV I ET OMNIB' HABITATIBVS IN EA / Rev. The Holy Spirit SCE SPIRT ASSIT NOBIS GRATIA VT VI - Silver 30 mm, 6.41 gram - Rare, moreso this nice! - Superb cabinet toning and exceptionally well-struck - XF+ - The fondation, a sort of fund to keep his memory alive while funding social welfare, of Jan van Hemelrijck was started around the time of his death in 1490. Medals (Dugn. 420a-b) from around this time are already known, sporting the same general design that would be used for these medals well into the 18th century. Somewhere in the late 16th century however, the third digit in the date on an earlier medal was misread and the fictive and erroneous date of 1400 would appear on the all subsequent issues.
