Unknown Artist Circa 1900 Portrait of a Man Oil on canvas 75.5 x 65 cm, with frame 81 x 71 cm Monogrammed “ML” in the upper left The portrait, monogrammed “ML” in the upper left, depicts a middle-aged man with short dark brown hair and a mustache. He is seated facing the viewer, but has turned his head to the right and appears to be looking through an open window. Light falls on his face from that direction, while the left half of the painting lies in shadow. His hands, tucked into his pants pockets, emphasize his reserved, pensive demeanor. An expressive surface treatment, rendered in varying shades, lends the portrait a painterly vitality. Unbekannter Künstler Um 1900 Männerportrait
